Welcome to Meg's

Unlocking Curiosity

Welcome to Meg's - a place for children to grow, learn and play. Your children deserve nothing but the best, so bring them here for an inviting environment that encourages curiosity and fun.

Hi, I'm Meg

What I'm All About

Think. Reason. Question. Experiment. These are just a few of the skills and qualities that children will develop at Meg's. I'm an Early Childhood Educator (Level 3: Child Development Supervisor Designation) and an Alberta Certified Teacher. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I've spent a number of years working with children from infancy all the way into the teenage years. After the birth of my son, I was frustrated at the lack of available childcare in the SE area of Calgary. I felt I could do better. I felt I could provide the high-quality play-based environment I know to be paramount to early child development for my son and for other children. I felt that I could offer the nurturing care that they needed as well as the strong educational foundation that I know is necessary for success in the future. I'm a strong proponent of meaningful play-based learning that teaches foundational concepts in math, literacy, science, the arts, nature and in emotional development.

All activities are designed to adequately nurture the emotional and intellectual growth of children at their own pace in a fun and stimulating way. Through planned explorations and hands-on learning opportunities, young children are free to develop into bright young minds.

This is a warm, safe and pet-friendly home where your child will feel valued and accepted. Reach out to learn more and to book a visit.

General Information

Each child is required to bring a nutritious lunch, suitable clothing for outdoor play, a change of clothes, diapers, and wipes if not toilet trained and a water bottle. Snacks are provided. If your child takes naps, I provide the cot/crib and cot sheet but I recommend sending your child with a familiar blanket. Cuddly critters are of course always welcome.

I'm open from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Additional time must be pre-arranged at an additional fee. Talk to me about your needs and I am usually able to accommodate.

Frequently Asked Questions

D

Do you provide Receipts?

I certainly do.

Are you licensed?

Yes, I am. This means that this day home is an Alberta Approved Family Day home.

What does it mean to be an Alberta Approved Family Day home?

This means that there is oversight into the operations of this day home, that it is monitored for safety and to ensure that the best child development practices are being adhered to.

It also means that all government grants and subsidies are available. The affordable childcare grant as well as childcare affordability subsidies.

What is your policy on screen time?

The only time we would watch tv would be if it were a special occasion and in those instances, the parents would be notified in advance. An example of this would be having a special festive movie afternoon with hot chocolate. Any other screen time would be directly related to what we are learning about using an iPad. A short video from youtube about the rainforest would be an example of this application or an app that teaches early coding skills.

Do you take the children on any excursions?

I don't take the children anywhere by car. We do however explore the neighborhood.

Can I visit my child during the day?

Of course! But be forewarned, you might get roped into participating in craft time!
